15 Couples That Let Their Guard Down

With every new inquiry and potential client I meet I always ask why they reached out. What is drawing you to my work that made you want to have this conversation? And lately there's been a reoccurring theme- "I really want natural + candid photos" Yes. Thank you I HEAR you. Part of me feels like I am on quest to bring people out of their shell + comfort zone. There's something wonderful about getting to know people on personal level. I have to say it's one of the best parts about my job. Maybe it's years of psych education that have embedded a love for wanting to know more but I can't say I haven't used my college education in some way.

Although I'm sneaky it takes a mutual effort to really achieve that true, authentic emotion.  It starts with YOU my friend, and learning to let your guard down. Time and time again I hear, "Oh I want things to not feel posed and really candid- BUT my fiancé HATES getting their picture taken."  How do we change that? Your MINDSET about the shoot is key!  I'm here to tell you that if you want the goods, you've gotta try. Have a pep talk together, discuss expectations and how you'd both like these photos to turn out. Heck practice posing in the mirror of what FEELS like your normal body language. That way everyone is on the same page-- we can have fun + enjoy the process! You can hate having your picture taken but ultimately we're in this together to document + celebrate YOUR love. Think about that- it's pretty amazing.

SO, to give you a little inspiration for your engagement session or the couple photos on your wedding day, here's 15 couples that let their guard down. I'm not sure it gets more natural + candid than these:

All my love,
