Winter Wedding at Rustic Manor 1848 in Delafield, WI - Brianna + Forest
Brianna + Forest
Moody + Editorial Winter Wedding
I couldn’t have imagined a better way to end my 2018 wedding season than with Brianna + Forest at Rustic Manor 1848. Brianna had a vision for a winter wedding and all the pieces fit together so nicely. It was clean + classic but modern + exciting. They put a ton of effort into the atmosphere and experience for their guests and it truly delivered for this December wedding.
Married at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Menomonee Falls, Forest greeted Bri with wide eyes and the biggest smile as she walked down the aisle. Cathedral veil flowing behind her ready to honor traditional marriage vows, the walked up the altar hand-in-hand. They shared tears during their vows and communion together as husband and wife.
Afterwards, due to inclement weather, we had to get clever with photos. We knew going into the day we would be limited with light. Mix that with cold wind + rain and you’ve got to be prepared to make indoor, artificial light feel elegant + unique. Stuck to overhangs and indoors --I’ll be honest when I say most photographers fear the no natural light situation— but, I love a good challenge and putting a modern twist on classic portraits is true to my core. I had yet to create a “set” for a wedding and really play around with light + create some art.
At one point I looked at Bri and asked if she was tired of smiling because I couldn’t help myself from “okay just one more idea”- she grinned, said no, and kept it going.
Eventually I had to stop myself and continued on with the night -- I couldn’t help but feel so grateful that I got the opportunity to shoot an entirely different scenario and man did I feel inspired. Bri switched up her bridal look and took off her fur and bolero- only to surprise guests during their entrance with a third, strapless dress look. They enjoyed dinner and speeches, happy toasts and a choreographed first dance, followed by an intense family polka and an odd Larson family tradition where everyone lays down on the floor for the bridge of Wipe Out by the Surfaris.
It was magical and special and an incredible way to end my 2018 wedding season. I’m still overwhelmed with gratitude for how trusting Bri + Forest were with the process. Thank you for braving the elements to shoot in the light and for truly celebrating the process and letting me tell your story.
