Caitlyn + Jacob

I love you Milwaukee

One of my goals this past year was to do an in-home engagement session. I felt I wanted to pay homage to my earlier shooting days and really encourage my clients to invite me in. I wanted to challenge myself with more indoor lighting situations and see if I can push my “documenting” skills.

When Caitlyn suggested their house for our location I was ecstatic. Jacob has put a ton of work into their house and they wanted to celebrate what they’ve created so far. It takes the right couple and I was patiently waiting for them to come along. Personally I believe that what you fill your home with or hang on the walls should tell a story + invoke conversation. It creates an atmosphere and truly represents who we are. When I walked in the other day I immediately knew we’d all be a good fit. The walls were covered in stories and I was dying to dig in. If there’s anything I love more than taking the photos it’s the talking that goes on in-between. Shocker, I know. But that’s a driver in the WHY. Meeting people that open up + let me in — I can never get enough.

Caitlyn + Jacob did just that. We played records and reminisced and talked furniture and living intentionally. I learned they love collecting bird items and quirky furniture and embrace color and history and have created this warm + inviting space that feels like home. To them but to you too. It’s filled with character and represents them and made for the best location to tell their story. It was everything I hoped it would be and I can’t imagine a better way to close out 2018.

You can see their vibrant wedding at Hotel Madrid Here!

All my love,

G.
